https://dn.ca/data/avatars/s/0/160.jpg?1683910937@LCM the MDF process does not look at content or perform any kind of filtering, we only do volume constraining as mentioned above.

Suspicious message from CIRA contact form?

The message above is a legitimate request through the Message Delivery Form. CIRA does not audit or monitor content of these messages but we do verify the email address of the sender before sending the message to the registrant email on file. The process is something like... requestor fills in...

Cannot Get CIRA WHOIS Info on Hyphenated .CA Domains

That's a known bug and is being worked on as we speak. Its an issue with the website interface to WHOIS, not an issue with WHOIS itself.

https://dn.ca/data/avatars/s/0/4.jpg?1656523472@MapleDots the email is a collaboration with Godaddy and it would appear there is a bug in the domain selection, you should not be seeing WHC registered domains in that notice, I will investigate.

https://dn.ca/data/avatars/s/0/61.jpg?1656550914@GeorgeK is right. All "individual" type registrants (Canadian Citizen, resident etc) are redacted by the registry by default. Proliferation of scam sites

Hey https://dn.ca/data/avatars/s/0/10.jpg?1656297913@rlm the process we have currently in place for issues of this kind is indeed the RIV (registrant information validation) process. Our experience has typically been that a "bad guy" will not respond to a RIV request in which case we do...

Do you plan to drop domains when CIRA raises pricing again?

The proposed price increase has been implemented in an effort to maintain our competitiveness in the global domain name market and offset global inflationary pressures that are impacting our operations. This is only the second price increase in the history of CIRA and the first since 2018. It...

https://dn.ca/data/avatars/s/0/10.jpg?1656297913@rlm so, this is not a simple answer and I can only comment on .CA. It is possible that "Epik" is a reseller with Hexonet (we typically do not have visibility of resellers unless a registrar shares that information directly with us) and in that...

Now is the time to renew it or lose it - What?

This is a co-branded marketing program we are conducting as a trial with Godaddy where we are reaching out to domain owners that have domains in redemption. If successful, we may look at expanding the program to any other registrar interested in participating. And indeed, any registrar is...

    Fabulous auto renew

Tom, yes, CIRA will rewind ALL affected domains. As you know, you have received a list of the affected domains registered with you that were in redemption, were redeemed/restored and were identified as candidates for, as you call it, a rewind. A similar list has been shared with all other...

I have posted about this elsewhere and https://dn.ca/data/avatars/s/0/37.jpg?1663625118@FM has alluded to it above, the data we have as the registry from our perspective is the data provided to us by the registrar. Typo'd whois domain status

@rlm @FM @bmetal yup it's a typo in our system, I will get it fixed, thanks for pointing it out. The "clientRenewProhibited" does not affect "autorenew". This status will only prevent manual or explicit renewals. And note this is a setting that is set by the registrar.

Epik can't pay any of its users right now

@DomainRecap that is correct although we have a mechanism where a corporation can apply to have their whois information redacted. These are considered on a case by case basis by our legal team. A use case example would be a business that offers a service that may be controversial and do not want...

    When someone's clearly not Canadian

We routinely investigate potential issues of violating CPR (Canadian Presence Requirements) through a process called RIV (Registrant Information Validation). If we find a .CA domain registrant does not meet CPR, then the domain is suspended. But remember, someone having a foreign address may...

    CIRA expiry and release

One added piece of information related to the "day" on which the domain exits redemption and enters pending delete. Restricted Domains TBR - Carlson

@dancarls yes, what you see in whois is correct, the registrant will be "generated registrant" which reflects a CIRA Internal Rant that we use in order to channel the domain to TBR. Current Registrar List by CIRA needs to be drastically improved

@MapleDots we publish what is provided to us by the registrar. New registrars are put through a pretty exhaustive process to be "accredited" and verified so I...

Domains missing and not listed in my CIRA account

@theinvestor you are correct. This is purely for the purposes of maintaining your eligibility as a CIRA Member as you can...

Is this a risky CIRA registration?

The most Overpriced .CA Domains on GoDaddy Auction

@Eby I'm not sure I fully understand your question but will try to answer.
